What is a Beat Check?
The Beat Check (also known as the NHS Health Check) is a 20–30 minute health assessment that looks at your risk of developing common – but often preventable – conditions such as:
- Heart disease
- Stroke
- Type 2 diabetes
- Kidney disease
- Dementia
It’s completely free, and you’ll receive personalised advice to help you make simple changes that could have a big impact on your long-term health.
Who can get a Beat Check?
You’re eligible if you:
- Are aged 45 to 74
- Do not already have a pre-existing condition such as heart disease, diabetes, or high blood pressure
What does the Beat Check involve?
During your appointment, we’ll check:
- Blood pressure
- Height, weight and BMI
- Cholesterol and blood sugar
- Lifestyle (smoking, alcohol, activity levels)
You’ll receive practical, tailored advice based on your results. No judgement – just helpful information to keep you feeling your best.
Where can I get it?
We’re offering Beat Checks at 11 locations across Knowsley, including GP practices and community venues. we also offer evening and weekend appointments at select sites – because we know life gets busy.
